The Gran Paradiso is a magnificent granite massif located in the Graie Alps, in the extreme North West of Italy, between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. Here, the highest summit of a mountain range entirely in Italy can be found, the Gran Paradiso (4,061 m).
What makes this territory unique is its wonderful high altitude nature, where ibex, the symbol of this territory, run free. For this reason in 1922, approximately 100 years ago, the Gran Paradiso National Park was established, Italy’s first natural park..
Last but not least, the Gran Paradiso has a rich and noble history, a history that has made these mountains to all intents and purposes the "mountains of the kings of Italy". Bearing testimony to these historical events is the formidable network of Royal Hunting Roads, an extraordinary work realised by the people of the Gran Paradiso to enhance the ancient hunting grounds of the kings. Today, these spectacular high altitude trails are transformed every two years into the race course of the Royal Ultra Sky Marathon Gran Paradiso.
